Enloe HOSA
MEETINGS
RECAP: Click here for the Prezi.
If you have time, please look over this Prezi. The requirements to be in HOSA are that you must have taken at least 1 health science CTE class. Those classes are mainly taught by our advisers, Mrs.Ledford and Mrs.Cherry. If you take 1, you can continue to be in HOSA until you graduate without having to take another. This year, the dues to National HOSA are $17; they are due by Friday September 19th September 15-17 in the morning, or to Mrs. Cherry, room 605, September 18-19. Everyone in HOSA must fill out an application required by the Enloe CTE department; the application in down below. This application is due by September 19th meetings will be mandatory due to reasons such as having guest speakers.
There are three levels of competition in HOSA; they are Districts, States, and Nationals. This year Districts will be Saturday, November 22. States will be starting Thursday March 26th at the Greensboro Koury Convention Center. A quick note regarding States – it is during spring 28th break, so please be aware of that. Nationals will be hosted at Anaheim, California in late June. There are 55 total events. A member may do 1 competitive event and as many recognition events as they wish too. Some events go through Districts, while many others head straight to States. When you are deciding what event you want to compete in, please make a note as to whether you will be going straight to states or districts. You can get all of the information regarding competition at http://www.hosa.org/node/117.
The National service project this year for HOSA is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We will be doing several major service projects this year. By the end of first semester, we have 2 planned. One is the children’s drive. We will be collecting children’s books and toys and donating them to a children’s hospital. This will most likely begin in November and run until December. The next service project we have planned for first semester is a 5k run/walk; it will, hopefully, be done in coordination with MBSA. We will be updating you regarding this event as we get closer and have more details finalized.
This year we want to implement committee heads. The duty of a committee head is to help lead the competitors under their category to success at the competitions. We will be sending out an application soon for all those who wish to apply. We are looking for candidates who are responsible and are willing to put in the effort to helping others with their events.
You can pay the dues to Mrs. Ledford, room 603. This year, you can only miss a maximum of 2 meetings.
Reminder: $17 DUES and HOSA application need to be turned in by September 26th.

District Results
It is a tradition at the State HOSA conference for a competitor to sing the National Anthem at the opening ceremony. It would be a honor for us to have one of our very own HOSA competitors sing this year on stage. If anyone is willing to audition to sing the national anthem, the information is below.
1. You must be a HOSA member who plans on attending the NC-HOSA State Leadership Conference.
2. Send in a videotape or DVD of yourself and/or your friends to NC-HOSA by the State Conference deadline, February 15, 2015.
3. Be sure the recording is accurate as to how you will present the anthem, either a cappella (without music), with live musicians (we will NOT be able to provide a piano), or with taped music of your choosing. (You MUST be able to bring the taped music with you to accompany you at the conference.)
4. Be sure the videotape is properly labeled with the name of the HOSA chapter and name(s) of all performer(s).
5. The person(s) selected must be available the afternoon on Thursday, March 26, 2015 for rehearsal.
One of the more interesting oppurtunities is the HOSA State Talent Show. Winners of the talent can win up to $100. More information is in the document attached below. We encourage everyone to take a look.
If you have any questions, please contact the NC-HOSA Office at edith.stewart@dpi.nc.gov (919) 807-3900.
If anyone wants to do, we encourage you to audition! Good Luck!
